I even make up patterns, but I have never written one down. This may change, as I suspect that I really will write down my pattern for little people, and maybe for a knitted shopping bag. Of course, I have to make those things first, and that means putting aside my gorgeous shrug slash bolero, which I have finished. Not that I know what I did, since I increased randomly, and knit until I ran out of yarn, not a good way to create a pattern. Well, maybe a good way to destash, but my half a sweater may be even less valuable to someone in cold weather.
Here is the good news, crochet, I am brave enough to frog items. Yes, that means that i get to re-crochet the same stuff, only better. Well, hopefully better. but think of the yarn I am saving.

My imaginary life
I have imagined making many things. Many many things. But the reality is that I take forever just to finish a shawl or a pair of socks. I am not complaining, this is all part of my gift. My gift is that I am an appreciator, I truly appreciate the patterns that people have created, the lovely knitted and crocheted yarny goodness. I actually read those patterns, not just the description of the pattern. I like the structure and the vision of the designers.
Now, I do have vision for myself, but not for others really. I imagine the things that might look good on me, for my imaginary body, sadly, as my actual body is not exactly as I imagine. Hey, I call it anorexia in reverse, I look in the mirror and see a thin person. Thus I make hats, lots of hats, and weird things for my own entertainment.
So it is all good.

I am way cool!
I am watching "White Collar" and the scene is shot right around the corner from my house. Oh, and there is no parking in the neighborhood again, since they are shooting another random show. They were shooting "Bored in New York" down the street in the beginning of the summer, and recently, another show called "In Production". Obviously, I have become jaded, since instead of trying to find out who is on the shoot, all I can think about is the missing parking spaces, (No, really, Parking in my neighborhood is very difficult, and I feel for my neighbors. {A car in my neighborhood?!! are you out of your mind?!!! I totally do not have 20 minutes to an hour to spare driving around the block looking for parking, and now that they are filming...})
What does this have to do with knitting? Not a thing, except that I knit, and I am obviously cool, hence, knitting is cool.

New identity for my blog
It turns out that people do not appreciate drunken e-mails, or even moderately over the rainbow e-mails. So I think that I can send all those e-mails in a blog. and continue knitting. and ignore punctuation. and rant.
on my needles, a dishcloth, sort of trompe l'oiel tumbling blocks kind of dishcloth. I have decided to knit some small things 'cuz I have such severe ADD that I have trouble finishing ANYTHING. Hence a small thing, a dishcloth. Plus dishcloths make you smarter, because you get to think about construction. It is all good.
I taught someone to knit, and she has made such a good job of it, I am already jealous. Turns out she is a perfectionist, and hence wants to do everything perfectly, and then does. I have her on washcloths, this is my new concept. Usually your first project is a scarf, which is cool on one hand since you get to see the progression in your knitting, but at the end of it, you have a scarf with some seriously dreadful bits. Not to say that you may not make many things with dreadful bits, but it is a bit frustrating for your first project. With smaller projects, you can do a bad job, and save it, no, Honor it, as your first project. Then you can go on to your next washcloth, slightly better, and on to bigger and better things.
Knitting is good for learning to live with mistakes. Well, let us be honest, I am not known for my perfectionism, I am the queen of "good enough for Government Work", but that is not my fault. I read a book about building cathedrals in Medieval Europe, and the idea that 'Only god is perfect' was inculcated in my psyche early on, hey, I do not compete with the big guy. This also explains my half a sweater, ok, it might have been a good project but that I ran out of yarn. This is what happens when you experiment with waste yarn, you start to like it, then run out of yarn. Darn. Well, it is pink, but I plan to wear it occasionally, just to annoy my family, who are rather more perfectionist than I. Totally, do not get me started!

Gone over to the dark side
Yes, I am now crocheting. Okay, I have been bi crafty for many years, willing to use a crochet hook or a pair of knitting needles with impunity. (Yes, we all wonder who is impunity, clearly a pal for those of us who take chances in whatever we endeavor)
So I am now working on a crochet shawl. Not the most beautiful shawl, but I feel sure that it will keep me warm in air conditioning, and that is what I need.
I have made 2 of the easiest baby sweaters ever, granny hexagrams that you sew together. I think I will try free cycling them, and I am also willing to try making one for me, with 2 strands of yarn. maybe a bit bulky, but still useful. I have finished my half sweater, put the buttons on, but it is not the most beautiful sweater ever. Still I like it, since I made it up.

Not a good blogger either!
Just a quick update. Finished my shrug, made up the pattern, top down, basic, with random increases. Am currently crocheting a purse, slowly, and still working on my socks, very slowly.
